Hello J.C.!
Yes it is J.onopordi koenigi, but now J.onopordi koenigi,
J. o. setifensis, J. o. leucosticta and other forms are considered
simply synonyms of Julodis onopordi typ. (according the new Catalogue
by Kuban). In my opinion they are simply varieties, without taxonomic
value, because it's not possible to find true differences among all
this previously supposed subspecies. Years ago I believed that J. o.
koenigi was the Eastern form, and J. o. leucosticta the western form
(with all the others simply synonyms of one of them), but during my
last travel in Morocco, few years ago, I found a specimen of "koenigi"
in Northern Morocco. I found others from the same country in other
collections, living near places where I believed there was the true
leucosticta, so I think they can't be considered true subspecies.
