I don't know if this specimen has ocelli (and how many or how developed), but the presence of ocelli is very variable among Lasius workers: completely lacking, only one (the central one), three but atrophic, three and well developed. Only in subgenus Dendrolasius they are always 3 and well developed. In the nominal subgenus (like this case) they are very variable, while in the most ipogeal species they are most often lacking (obviously because of the less strong necessity of using eyes and ocelli for workers).
