je dois avouer que je n'ai pas encore eu le catalogue sous les yeux, même si on m'a demandé mon avis sur diverses familles et sous-familles et que j'en ai donc vu la version avant-print.

il y a et aura matière à discussion - c'est évident, mais je préfère le voir sur pièce!

Le chapitre Scarabaeidae Cetoniinae a été traité par A. Smetana et A.B.T. Smith.
Il me paraît intéressant, afin d'alimenter les débats, de reproduire les propos liminaires des éditeurs (certes en langue anglaise, mais je pense qu'elle est au moins comprise par bon nombre des intervenants sur ce forum).
"The taxonomy in Cetoniinae is tremendously influenced by the typological approach of many authors, including the modern ones, as well as by the widespread disregard of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature. As a result, many infrasubspecific taxa, such as aberrations and varieties, are still being commonly described and/or they are described as subspecies just to secure the avaibility of the names. In addition, there is a widespread disagreement among the authors as to the genus/subgenus and species/subspecies concepts, as well as to the status of many subspecies. It is a common situation that subspecies that were synonymized with the nominal species by one author, are subsequently still considered as valid subspecies by other authors. This situation presents serious problems for the cataloguer, since it is almost impossible to keep track of all the changes. It is assumed that the Cetoniinae section does not contain any non-available names and that the treatment of the names and the species/subspecies level reflects as closely as possible the most recent concepts."
Il appartient donc à chacun d'arrêter sa position en fonction de ses sensibilité et conception propres s'il veut éviter de consacrer un temps non négligeable à modifier des étiquettes au gré des publications successives.
